About

In 1979, Monty Python’s Life of Brian turned the Biblical epic on its head. Now, the creators of Spamalot, Eric Idle & John Du Prez turn classical music on its ear!

Not the Messiah (He’s a Very Naughty Boy) is a comedic masterpiece that combines all of the unforgettable humor of the Python’s most celebrated film with the overblown grandeur of operatic soloists, full symphony orchestra and chorus.

Starring: Eric Idle
Conductor: John Du Prez
Operatic Soloists: Bradley Daley, Kristi Harms, Michael Lewis, Sharon Prero
Orchestra & Choir: Queensland Pops Orchestra & Voices of Birralee Choir

Reviews

At the risk of inviting the wrath of “Brian” devotees (Brianians? Brianists? Brews?), I should say that “Not the Messiah” sometimes feels more minor than it should, the lyrics only moderately clever, the musical jokes too easy. And yet, if the oratorio were to rise again after its two-night stint, not even a Judas would grumble. (New York Times)
